Would it be a provocation?
This Saturday, March 12, Prince Harry was accused, in several British media, of “snubbing the Queen”, after having decided not to attend the religious ceremony in honor of Prince Philip, husband of Elizabeth II who died in April 2021. Indeed, a spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex announced, through a press release that the latter would miss the tribute scheduled for March 29, to give more explanations, according to AFP.

Police protection
This announcement follows a long series of standoffs between Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, and the Crown.
Last February, the queen's grandson, who now lives in California with his family, asked his native country for police protection during his visits to the territory.
A request which had been refused to him, not being any more active member of the royal family.
Thus, for the British media, his absence from the ceremony of his grandfather would be, neither more nor less, than a revenge provocation.
On Saturday February 12, the British newspaper
The Sun
headlined in its columns: “Harry snubs Philip”.
To which Angela Levin, biographer and author of
Harry, Conversations with the Prince
(2018), hastened to add: "Harry not only snubs the Duke of Edinburgh (Philip) but above all, he snubs the Queen", reports AFP.

A weakened queen
The ceremony in honor of Prince Philip, who died on April 9, 2021 at the age of 99, is scheduled for March 29.
If Queen Elizabeth II is to attend, her presence remains pending.
Very weakened by the Covid-19, which she caught at the end of February, the 96-year-old monarch has since canceled several events.
Among them, the religious ceremony at Westminster Abbey (London), organized on March 14, which was to mark its big exit for months.
